Why? — We’re too grounded in preconceived realities and decisions are made by teams; teams that comprise max one person who understands something about communications.
Teams hardly ever make bold, visionary decisions to move into territory they don’t know anything about. They don’t take that proverbial first step every transformative journey needs to start with. Especially when they don’t even quite understand where they’re at right now.
From the first day I started in development cooperation, “transformation” was always one option discussed for the title of the next event.
It takes leaders who have built rapport beforehand and who can draw on it when it comes to a visionary decision to be made.
Communications needs that. Now. It’s one of the most untapped resources in development work. It can move things and not just talk about it.
